Hey babe! Let’s chat about lingerie. If you’re anything like me, you might be prone to spending countless hours browsing the internet, getting lost on all the different websites trying to narrow down ideas for your own session.  While choosing the right lingerie can be super overwhelming, I can promise you - it doesn't have to be a terrifying experience.  Like, I’m literally obsessed with shopping for lingerie now.

With that said, HOW do you choose the right lingerie when there are SO many different freaking options out there? How do you find the right lingerie that will help accentuate your curves, flatter your body, and add a touch of glamor to your images? Don't worry, babe, I got you!

Consider the style of the shoot

Before you start shopping for lingerie, consider the style of the session you want. Do you want something sexy and sultry or soft and romantic? Do you want to wear something bold and daring or something classic and elegant? Your vision will help you narrow down your choices and find lingerie that fits the mood. If you aren't sure where to even start, I suggest doing a little research on Pinterest and seeing if there are any patterns in the images you are drawn to. That might help you develop a vision and put into words the style you want for your session. Also, keep in mind that with three different outfits, you might be able to to add a couple different styles and vibes to your session for even more variety.

Choose lingerie that flatters your body type

When it comes to lingerie, the number one most important thing is fit. Everyone's body is unique, and it's important to choose lingerie that flatters your body type. Typically women wear lingerie in a size one step larger than normal clothes so don't be afraid to size up. The size on the tag really doesn't matter or show up in pics but the way it fits sure does. So go for the best fit! And no matter what "rules' there are, you want to bring items that make you feel the most confident.

If you have a curvy figure, consider lingerie that has some type of cut out or band around the waist to accentuate your curves and try to avoid anything baggy or oversized which might add unwanted bulk. If you have a small bust, you might be tempted to bring lingerie with padded cups or a push-up bra to enhance your cleavage but we actually recommend lingerie without support since we don't want gapping or extra fabric when we are posing you.

A lot of people think mostly about how the piece of lingerie will or will not cover an area they are concerned about. This might be worth a thought but I suggest also spending some time on finding pieces that highlight the areas that you love. If you want to showcase your girls, make sure you have a good fit in the cups and the right cut that you love. If showcasing your booty is important, consider how the bottoms fit. You might find you like a little more coverage, something pretty cheeky, or that a thong highlights those curves best. If your legs are a favorite part of your body you want to show off, consider bottoms with a higher cut up on the hip as that will accentuate and elongate those legs even further.

When this all gets a little confusing or overwhelming, just remember to bring what you love and it will all work out perfectly!

Consider something a little outside the box

Seriously, don’t be afraid to venture out and try new things! SO many of my clients end up with a piece they weren't quite sure about in the beginning… and then once they get it on, it ends up being their favorite one. 

Consider the color

The color of your lingerie can absolutely set the tone for your boudoir shoot and I always suggest that your looks all have different colors to add variety. Black lingerie is always a classic choice, but don't be afraid to experiment with other colors. Red lingerie is a bold and sensual choice, while pastel colors can create a soft and romantic look. And if you're feeling bold and vibrant? Why not try stunning jewel tones like emerald, sapphire, ruby, or some neons? Go with a color that compliments your skin tone and makes you feel confident.

Choose lingerie that makes you feel comfortable

While it's important to choose lingerie that looks good, it's equally important to choose lingerie that makes you feel comfortable. You want to feel confident and at ease during your boudoir shoot, and uncomfortable lingerie can be a distraction. Choose lingerie that fits well and feels comfortable against your skin.

Don't forget about the details

The details of your lingerie can make ALLLLLLLLL the difference in your boudoir photos. Consider lingerie with lace, embroidery, or other embellishments to add texture and depth to your images. Accessories like stockings, garters, and heels can also add a touch of glamor to your look!

While it isn't a make or break moment, choosing the right lingerie for your session is probably one of the most important aspects of planning! Consider the vision we’re going for, choose colors that make your heart happy, and don’t be afraid to try new things.
